Devlog is Back!

Hey folks, time for a devlog update here on our Itch.io page!

The past few weeks have been all over the place - literally. I traveled to Ireland primarily to capture textures for several Worldbuilder Media & Sqeezi Games projects, including the video game version of Greywyn. We ended up also shooting footage that you'll see soon in some sort of trailer, and thousands of reference photos. The hours of hiking or climbing just to "get the shot" was time well-spent. I can't wait to go back and do it again.

In the small remote towns we visited, and eventually Dublin, I grabbed corner spots in pubs and b&b's to enjoy a few pints and outline the upcoming modules for the tabletop version. Ireland is such a beautiful country, and for the most part we intentionally chose non-touristy, remote places. It was a bit like stepping into Middle Earth, so I was never at a loss for inspiration.

If you are a newsletter subscriber you saw some of the photos and scooped some details on new features in the upcoming releases. What...you're NOT a subscriber??!? Get thee to Greywyn.com NOW...

So anyway...back to the devlog...

What the heck IS happening with the tabletop version? Well, I'm currently editing the material for World of Greywyn: The Forge and handling the layout & design of the book & modules. I've also been refining the Core Setting update, trying to get a handle on our social media platforms, and writing character bios & history for the entire Greywyn universe.

I've been working on improving the production quality of the series, and it's meant spending a bit more time than expected fleshing out these updates, but the changes were needed. Many of these changes aren't in the Greywyn universe itself, but rather the software used to create it.

I used Campaign Cartographer & Photoshop for the original Core Setting, but my tools suite has been evolving, especially this year. I still use both CC3 & PS, but lately I've been working with Dungeon Painter Studio bringing in my own original textures and symbols, and have been incorporating more hand-drawn elements into the mix (both digital and scans from my sketchbooks). I also switched to Sketch to produce the books (I previously used Photoshop to layout the current Core PDF).

Worldbuilding needs iteration, and when inspiration strikes or you find something that can be improved, you just go with it. Though there are a few (minor) changes to the map and some oh-so-slight geography tweaks, I'm really happy with how the setting is evolving, and I think the series will be better for it.

So while The Forge expansion is coming along nicely, I'll just go ahead and say it- we WON'T make a September release, and I'm ok with that. I think you'll find the added material and the boost in production quality worth a few extra weeks wait.

That's it for this update - make sure you subscribe to the Greywyn Newsletter (now on a bi-weekly schedule) and get some free desktop wallpapers, newsletter-only content, and in the next issue, a brand-new free adventure module, "The Blessing of the Wyrm Queen".

Until next time...Game On!
